Bristol Habourside

I have found myself hanging out at Bristol Harbourside a lot recently, especially now the weather is getting warmer. I walk along the river on my many journeys to Bristol Record Office where I have been venturing a lot to get stuff for my uni project. And of course I have been dangling my legs over the edge drinking Rekorderlig, eating curry and watching the sun set (and almost being attacked by a swan).

It's a great place to go to eat, there's so many bars and restaurants fulfilling everyone's taste - I recommend the Stable for some wicked pizza, pie and cider. But if you're stuck for choosing, head to Za Za's for an all you can eat world buffet. You can stuff your face whilst enjoying Bristol's pretty views. Or you could do what I did and grab some street food and sit outside.

I'm currently buried under with project stuff and exams at the moment so cue a month hiatus. I will try to blog when I can but don't hold me to it.

Grey // ft. Topshop, Primark & H&M

Topshop Pinafore // Primark Turtle Neck // H&M Boots (similar)

I've been dying to get my hands on a pinafore and I finally picked up this grey one from Topshop. I like it because it's a bit different from the usual black ones and it is so versatile. Just switch up the top and you have a whole new outfit. Perfect for those who don't want to keep spending money to change their look. I'd say it's a good staple piece. The only thing I dislike about it that the straps are a bit long so sometimes the front looks a bit baggy but I think that is just what happens with pinafores/dungarees. I also recommend sizing down for this one as my usual size was too big and didn't look great.

Do you have a pinafore? What do you wear yours with?

I've always been a fan of pastels but recently I've really jumped on the pastel pink/nude trend. It's a big leap for me I think, and a lot of people, as I tend to wear black, grey, white, brown etc. and now pink. Here's a few looks that I've been loving on pinterest lately.

20 Goals for 20

The other week I officially left my teenage years. I am now 20 and feel that this is me entering into adulthood which terrifies the crap out of me if I am brutally honest. I feel like now is the time I should try and sort my self out and make some changes and I feel like the start of a new decade is a good time to do so #newdecadenewme

University - I'm going into my third year so it's time to make sure I am on it and work as hard as I truly can to graduate with the degree I want.
1. Pick a dissertation topic that you will enjoy and work hard at it
2. Get more work experience over the summer
3. Find out what you want to do with your life and make it happen!
4.Get a 2:1 or a 1st class degree.

Lifestyle/Hobbies -I won't lie, I don't have many hobbies and those that I do have I don't practice very often.
5. Learn how to swim with confidence
6. Keep your room tidy. You've been alive for 20 years and you still haven't mastered it.
7. Take up more hobbies - don't worry if you're rubbish at them, just try.
8. Actually do the hobbies you already love.
9. Travel more, see things. All of the things.
10. Budget your money

Work on yourself - I don't want to change drastically but there are things I know I should do
11. Eat more healthily (cut down on biscuits, Amy just do it)
12. Exercise, like actually do something.
13. Work hard on everything you do.
14. Stop worrying about what other people think. Chances are they don't actually care.
15. Be honest. Don't just say you don't mind.
16. Buy an awesome foundation.

Blog - And of course I want to improve my blog!
17. Set aside time to blog.
18. Venture outside to take pictures
19. Improve your writing style.

20. Do more of what makes you happy, because that's all that really matters.

Are these the best cleansers?

When using products on our skin, we often don't think about the science behind the products and what we're putting on our faces. Luckily, reviews.com have done it for us, testing 344 products to find the leading and safest products. With the help of dermatologists, aestheticians and skincare experts they looked at over 2000 ingredients to find those that are the most skin-friendly.

How they did it

They analysed the cleansers by looking at the all-rounders, so not the ones for specific skin types and then removed oil-stripping ingredients, such as sodium lauryl sulphate which can be really drying. Next they discounted products with controversial ingredients, meaning those where the side effects were still undetermined or misunderstood, leaving them with 250 products. They sought medical opinion to find out the best ingredients, including bisabolol and aloe, and used only those approved by multiple people. Finally, they tested the best to see how well they removed make up and impurities to find the ultimate list of the best tried and tested cleansers.

Are these the best?

The best overall was Cellex-C Betaplex Gentle Foaming Cleanse (with sodium laureth sulphate), a mild product that removes dry patches almost instantly and removes any impurities. The best overall that doesn't contain sodium laureth sulphate was the Skyn ICELAND Pure Cloud Cleanser. It removes every inch of make up with its antioxidants such as thyme and meadowfoam seed oil. The best drugstore product was the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser with humectants such as ceramides, hyaluronic acid and glycerin, removing dirt whilst locking the moisture in. However they did mention that it may not be the product for you if you're not a fan of parabens. Finally Kate Somerville Exfolikate Cleanser Daily Foaming Wash was rated the top exfoliator, containing enzymes from pumpkins, pineapples and papayas. It leaves your skin feeling flexible and hydrated rather than dry and raw.

Many of these products are American but, if you take a look at their top ingredients list, including rosehip, aloe and jojoba, you can see if these are in your favourite UK products. For example my top three cleansers are Garnier Soothing 2 in 1 Make-Up Remover, Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water and Nivea 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water, contain the recommended panthenol and glycerin.

Reviews.com suggest 3 steps for finding the best product:
1. Identify your key ingredients e.g. rosehip, jojoba, panthenol and glycerin
2. Don't change your whole skincare routine at once (it makes is hard to find out what's helping/not helping your skin)
3. Look at the bigger picture - what ingredients are good e.g. the harmful effect of microbeads.

Their research has definitely made me think about what goes into cleansers and I will be sure to follow the three simple tips!

What are your favourite cleansers? Have you tried any of these? How do you choose a product?

Simple Style: Stripes & Denim

Primark striped tee, denim button up, red lipstick, MUA
primark, denim, button up skirt, striped tee
breton stripe, striped tee, primark
topshop freya shoes, topshop, pointed shoes, pointed flats

Primark Tee (men's), Skirt and Necklace // Topshop Freya Shoes (£12 still in stock!!!)

Here's just a simple go-to outfit that you will find me wearing day to day, especially now that it's getting a little bit warmer. I picked up this tee over Easter from the men's section in Primark. I haven't found anything like this in the women's section and this is exactly what I want - an oversized white tee with thin black stripes that aren't too spaced out. What's the point in waiting to find it in the women's section when you can buy this one for a measly £4? I also treated myself to these ribcage style pointed flats from Topshop, in the sale for £12. I don't have many, lets say 'dainty' shoes - if you've read my blog for a while you'll know that all my shoes are big and clumpy so these are a nice change.
