Life Lately

Hi guys! I just thought I'd do a quick update on what I've been up to over the last two months as I feel that I've been pretty busy with uni and life in general. So here's a bit of a round up!

  • I went to Centre Parcs back in January on a bit of a holiday. Turns out I quite like cycling!
  • A lot of takeaways and eating in a lot of restaurants. I feel like this is all I ever do. I never used to be like this and now I'm piling on the pounds but the food is much tastier than the food I cook for myself.
  • I finally got a hair cut. I've been putting it off for months and I finally caved in and did it, it looks so much better and healthier now.
  • Day-tripping to Cardiff was awesome! It's a really pretty city which I  had never visited before and is well worth the trip. We visited the Dr Who Experience which I blogged about!
  • Whilst in Cardiff we of course took the opportunity to see who else but Sum 41. Fifteen year old Amy would be very happy.
  • I finally caught up with the crowd and started watching making a murderer. Always late to the party.
  • I've been trying to find work experience or placements for over the Summer, preferably in history, heritage or archive work. I need the experience and, hopefully, the money.
  • And of course, I've been busy with uni work, so many assignments, so little time!

What have you been up to this month?

4 Ways to get the Perfect Pink Pout

pink lipstick review, amyleehaynes, dolly daydream, mac, maybelline, MUA, bare minerals

I've recently been loving wearing a pink lip. I mean who doesn't? We all often tend to save our red lip for the evening or a more glamorous look and the playful pink comes out during the day. I didn't realise how many pink lipsticks I owned so I thought it would be a good idea to share with you my top 4 for all occasions.

MUA, MUA lipstick, MUA shade 11, amyleehaynes

First up we have the Mac Vegas Volt. It doesn't completely show up in photos to its true colour but it is actually a bright coral shade - a sort of orangey pink colour. This is a shade I opt for in the Spring or Summer as it's bright and cheery and gives me that summer feeling.

Next we have my super budget Pink-brown shade from MUA in shade 11. I have always been an advocate for MUA products, particularly their lipsticks as I find they are just as good or even better than the more pricer products. This a perfect nude shade for everyday wear and isn't too drying on the lips.

The brightest of them all is the Bare Minerals 'Risk it All' and is one of my all time favourites. This is definitely where I can see that paying more means better quality which I don't always find with products. This shade is perfect for an alternative to the nigh time red lip or if you want to make a statement during the day. It's longlasting and doesn't get flakey after a day of wearing it - it just keeps going. A good all rounder I'd say!

Finally the Maybelline Velvet Beige, which I featured in my recent everyday face post. This is a more of a matte nude shade and is what I'd probably (and most likely wrongly) class as a grey toned pink as it's a more subtle shade of pink. This is my favourite nude lipstick and is always the one I reach for everyday. It's matter yet not too drying but I do advise using with a lip balm.

Have you tried any of these? What are your favourite pink lipsticks to use?

Doctor Who Experience Cardiff

doctor who experience cardiff, doctor who, daleks, doctor who experience review

My name is Amy and I am a Whovian. This probably isn't something that has come across on my blog but I can assure you, it is true. Recently my lovely boyfriend treated me to tickets for the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff which, as you can image, was a dream come true. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. I imagined simply an exhibition of all things timey wimey. However it was much more than this. As you enter, you are guided through the Gallifrey Museum into a Doctor Who themed adventure, experiencing what it is like to enter the TARDIS and embark on an adventure with the current Doctor, portrayed by Peter Capaldi. This section of the experience is clearly aimed for kids but I must admit, I too enjoyed it. It was a great experience to stand in a replica TARDIS and feel hear the Daleks shouting exterminate. A delight for any whovian. (note: you can't take photos/videos in this first section)

After this section of the tour, you are unleashed into a two floor exhibition. On the first floor are the different TARDIS scenes from the different doctors' TARDISs - I'm a particular fan of the mint green décor! There's also a chance to have your photo taken with a green screen to make it look like you're on another planet or in the TARDIS, however this is a tad pricey. Upstairs are life-size characters from many of the episodes, particularly from more recent series, in addition to the iconic outfits from both the doctor, his companions and some of the prominent characters along the way. Some were replicas but the majority were the originals used in the show. In the middle of the room are of course the Daleks in a range of colours.

Naturally, you exit through the gift shop where you can purchase all things Doctor Who related. I had to leave with a pen and magnet didn't I? You can buy almost anything from tea towels and coasters to costumes so you can dress like you're favourite doctors. This is also the best place to come if you want to buy your favourite seasons/episodes - they have them all.
If you're a fan of Doctor Who, I definitely recommend taking a visit as it will not disappoint and a great value for money!

Are you a fan of Doctor Who? Have you been to the experience? What did you think?

February Fashion Fix: Style Inspiration for The Next Month

Sources: 1/2/3/4/5

We all need a bit of style inspiration from time to time, especially when it's so chilly still. Sometimes we can't help but dress practically in as many layers as possible but it's time to add some style back into my outfits so I've been perusing the one and only Pinterest for ideas. I will never be able to recreate these gems but they're giving me a push in the right direction.

Do you have any fashion inspiration to share? What have you been wearing whilst it's been super cold and rainy?
