Summer Ball/Prom Make Up On a Budget

Ah, it's that time of year again where students across the country get all glammed up to celebrate the end of their academic year. This might be your year 11 prom, year 13 leavers' do or, as it is for me, the annual university summer ball which sounds way to classy for me to be attending. Seeing as these events seem to crop up every year, it can get a bit pricey to go all out every time or even at all if you're on a tight budget. I've always refused to spend a lot on these events because I don't have the budget to and quite frankly, I don't want to spend loads of money just for one day, I'd much rather do my hair and make up myself so I thought I'd show you what I used to create my look for the summer ball using just your average drug store make up.

Firstly I used the Seventeen Flawless Primer (£5.99) to ensure a smooth and even base. On top of this I applied the Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation (Light Porcelain £5.99) which, to say it's dirt cheap, it's surprisingly really good at giving a flawlessly matte finish. I keep it in place with the Collection Pressed powder (Ivory 18 £1.99). Of course contouring is a must for a glam look. My favourite contour kit is the one by Sleek but, as you can see, I'm running out of the highlighter so I switched it for the MUA undress your skin highlighter instead. This has a bit of a pink tinge to it so there's not really any need for blusher. When it comes to the eyes, I decided to stay away from the grey colours I tend to opt for and used browns instead. I used the Maybelline 24 hour tattoo eyeshadow (permanent taupe £4.99) as a base colour, which I'm pretty sure is a budget holy grail amongst the blogging world. I simply darkened the outer edges of the eye with the shade obsessed from the MUA undress me too palette. Of course I completed the look with winged eyeliner (Maybelline Master Graphic Felt Tip Liner £5.99), a flick of mascara (Collection No Clumps £2.99) and a red lip (Collection - Queen of Hearts similar here).

And there you have it - a simple and budget friendly look that's perfect for your summer ball!
