Farewell 2013

2013 is almost over. Where has the year gone?! It has been a pretty good year I thought I would do a roundup of what has been occurring on my blog and in my life in 2013 so grab a brew and lets reminisce!

Since Dolly Daydream is supposed to be mainly a fashion blog lets start with outfits! This year I have posted around 65 outfit posts which I think is pretty good. Looking back at my outfit posts from the beginning of the year to now shows me how I am slowly but surely getting better at taking outfit pictures (can I get a hell yeah?) but it also shows me how my style is changing and hopefully improving. You can see all of my outfit posts here.

This year I started doing reviews of products that I have used so that my blog doesn't consist of simply outfit pictures. I am not completely sure whether my lovely followers like my reviews so it would be lovely to know what you guys think! You can see all of my reviews here.

Some highlights of the year have been visiting my sister in Chester, the vintage weekend I go to every year, a town near me staring to do vintage fairs, visiting St Anne's with my mamma and sister amongst many other things.
I haven't spoken about this at much length about my trip to Poland with the Holocaust Educational Trust in order to visit two of the three Auschwitz camps other than on the run up to my visit simply because it seemed inappropriate to do a blog post on Auchwitz as I think it would take away the severity of the issue. Despite this I am including my trip in my roundup because it has to have been the most life changing thing that I have experienced this year. I was able to meet two Holocaust survivors and see a place of such incredible historical importance. I wont go on too much about it but if you ever get the chance to visit please go as it is such an eye-opening experience.

63 outfits, 12 reviews, 26 week in photos posts and 6 collaborations with brands later, the year is over. On a whole I think 2013 has been pretty rad but I expect that 2014 is going to twice as hectic yet twice as good. I will be visiting London, completing my A-Levels and heading off to uni (aaaaah). I hope your year has also been good and that 2014 will be even better.

This will be my last week in photos post of 2013 - how scary! Band Tee & Boyfriend Jacket

Jacket - Primark // The Clash T-Shirt - My Dad's // Jeans - Topshop Joni // Boots - New Look

I had to force my sister to come and take my outfit pictures today because it was so freaking windy. I haven't been doing anything exciting as of late so my outfits aren't that exciting either. Unfortunately I have to spend the majority of the rest of my time off doing sixth form work which is pants but I am making time for a shopping trip to Manchester so I may do a haul post at some point.

Sale Away

1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8

Hey guys, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I have spent my Boxing Day browsing the sales online to give me an idea of things to hunt for when I go shopping next week. Here are the main things that caught my eye and I must say there are many things I like in the Zara sale. I always forget about Zara when I go shopping because it's not as near to all of the main shops but I will be making sure I have a look  because I need that grey jumper.

Have a fun week and make sure you stuff yourselves silly with chocolate!

Christmas Jumper & Leather

Jumper - Urban Outfitters (old) // Shirt - Charity Shop // Skirt - Rokit // Boots - Doc Martens

'Tis the season to wear tacky jumpers falalalala lalalala. This is my favourite Christmas jumper because it's subtle but still festive and is one of the comfiest things I own. I paired it with my leather skirt which I will never get sick of and of course my purple Doc Martens. (not sure what's going on with that piece of hair in the last picture)

I am so glad we have finished for Christmas now, it means I can dedicate my time to stuffing my face with mince pies, ginger biscuits and Twiglets. I hope you're all enjoying the start of your Christmas holidays!

Review: Boots Coconut & Almond Leave-In Conditioner

A while back I mentioned in a post that I bought the Boots Coconut & Almond Leave-In Conditioner for a mere £1.39. I used it once and didn't see that I had much of an effect so I forgot about it but recently I have been using and it is amazing. You're supposed to just wash your hair with shampoo and use this instead of conditioner but I couldn't bring myself to do it so I used both a little bit of conditioner and then a bit of this. It smells mainly of coconut which is lovely but it the smell doesn't last until your hair is dry. It keeps your hair feeling soft for quite a long time and cures you of the dreaded second-day-hair feeling. I am sure you can get better leave-in conditioners but for the price of this product you really cannot go wrong.

That's Entertainment

Jumper - Primark // Dress - Topshop // Boots -New Look // Ring - My Mama's

What is winter without velvet and big fluffy jumpers? This outfit is literally one of the comfiest outfits ever perhaps even better than leggings and it looks much better too. My personal outfit picture-taker is coming home tomorrow aka Laura from Just My Cup of Tea which also means she will probably have lots of outfit posts coming up too so make sure you follow her.

My Little Lipstick Collection

So my lipstick collection is actually quite small and I hope to eventually build it up. I don't use expensive lipsticks because I'm scared that I will spend loads on one and then it wont suit me/will be terrible and I could have bought something better. However I am happy with the quality of the brands of lipsticks that I already own.

L-R: Collection 'Queen of Hearts' £2.99 - Sleek 'Vamp' £4.50 (Review) - MUA Shade 1 £1 - Laval Red Desire £1
Reds: My lipstick collection mainly consists of reds because they are so glam and easy to wear and I like the way red looks with pale skin. The Collection and Laval ones are the first red lipsticks I ever bought and I really like both of them although they aren't very moisturising. The MUA lipstick is surprisingly good seeing as it's only £1 and it's my go to.

L-R: Collection 'Mud Slide' - Natural Collection 'Rose Petal' £1.99 - Topshop 'Infrared' £9 (Review)
Others: So I must admit, I would have had a 'pink' section to this post but unfortunately I lost my two favourite pink lipsticks so I am really annoyed and need to purchase some more. The purple lipstick I rarely use but when I do I tend to use it under my red lipstick to make it even darker. The topshop 'infrared' is an amazing summery lipstick and livens up your make up easily on those days when you really cannot be bothered. I haven't actually used the Natural Collection lipstick yet but I will do a review when I have!

Hard Out Here

Coat - Primark // Jumper - Primark // Shirt - H&M // Jeans - Topshop Joni // Boots - New Look // Scarf - H&M // Lipstick - Sleek 'Vamp' (Review here)

This is just one of those outfits that I just shove on when I can't be bothered as it's warm and comfy. How amazing are my new boots though? I wanted some black chunky heeled boots and couldn't find any that met my satisfaction or were actually in stock so when I stumbled upon these when Christmas shopping in Manchester, I persuaded my dearest Mama to get them as apart of my Christmas present. They were £29.99 which is a bargain for a decent pair of boots and they have good grip to stop my falling on my butt which is always a plus.

Review: Rimmel London Nail Varnish - Pompous

Hi guys! I thought I would do a review of one of the nail varnishes that I will be wearing a lot this A/W - Rimmel London 60 Seconds polish in the shade 'pompous' which, as you can tell, is a dark metallic purple. It has a 'express brush' which ensures 1 second application, meaning that it simply has a thicker brush making it easier for you to apply it evenly. As with most nail varnishes, it looks best once you have applied two layers. It does what it says on the bottle and dries super fast which is good if you're impatient like me and end up smudging it when you can't be bothered to wait for it to dry. I was actually quite surprised with how long it lasts before it starts chipping so I definitely recommend it if you're looking for a long lasting nail polish. I love the colour as it's a dark wintery shade but as it's metallic, it's not too dull.

Have you tried this nail varnish? What do you think?

Pretty Vacant

Jumper - Primark // Jeans - Charity Shop // Boots - Doc Martens // Chain - Topshop

I guess you can all probably tell what my favourite winter item is? Yep you guessed it's this jumper. Can you blame me though? It's super fluffy and cosy and I wish it was acceptable (and not gross) to wear it every day.

Who's excited for Dr Who tonight? I know I am but I can't believe it's the second to last episode with Matt Smith. Any fellow Whovians out there? ARE YOU EXCITED?

My Blogging Space

I've had these photos saved ever since I bought my new desk (when it was nice and tidy) but I never got round to actually doing a post so, finally here it is! I love these type of posts where you get to see where bloggers plan and write up all of their blog posts and it's good for being nosey at other bloggers' office décor style. I thought I would contribute where I blog from. Saying this, recently I have ended up being slumped on the sofa to write my posts due to lack of time to sit down at my desk properly.

'Nico' Desk - Argos // Basic Office Char - Argos // Printer - HP Deskjet 1050

Boat - RNLI shop

 Fake tree - B&M // Books - Antique Church

Coaster - Gift

Top shelf: Vintage Style Me book, notebooks, religious studies books, all my stationary goodness
Bottom shelf: Diary, What I Wore Today, history books and book on femism, Ghost World, notebooks, Rookie year book one

What do you think of these sorts of posts? Comment with a link to your posts like this, I would love to see!

Hey guys! Here are just a few things that have inspired me recently. As you can tell I am totally feeling dark colours, tartan trousers and a lil bit of pink. I am in desperate need of some tartan trousers aren't incredibly expensive. I am not really adapting well to winter at the moment, not matter how many layers I wear I end up freezing so I am in need of inspiration to keep me warm and still looking relatively fabulous.

If you want to see more things that inspire me you can follow me on Pinterest and Tumblr!
