New Year's Resolutions for 2013

Like most people I'm normally really bad at making resolutions and actually sticking to them. I always promise to lose weight and eat more healthily and then I realise I still have left over chocolate from christmas. This year I'm going to try and make some realistic resolutions that I can stick to.

1. Improve the quality of my blog posts (particularly outfit posts). Most of my outfits posts have not been the best because I always change the location of where I take pictures and they often have my messy room in the background. I was going to make a post of all of my 2012 outfits but the pictures just look terrible! 2013 is going to be a kind of fresh start. I will find 1 location for all of my outfit posts and stick to it! I might buy a light too so my pictures don't have a horrible orange tinge and I don't have anywhere to take pictures near a window that looks good - no plain walls etc.

2. I will stop buying things  just for the sake of it.  When I go to cheap shops, e.g. charity shops, primark etc., I tend to buy things just because they're cheap. I will then wear them once and then never again. I have a pair of boots that I bought this time last year from River Island in the sale and they're horrible and have never worn them. They make my feet look huge! Instead I'm going to make more wishlists and buy things that I actually want.

3. I will read all the photography books that I have and actually take notice of the tips. I've had my bridge camera since Feb/March and of course I know how to use it but I feel that I don't know how to use it to it's full potential. A lot of the pictures I take look like the same picture I would get from your average camera despite the quality of it being ten times better. I'm going to save for a DSLR too but in the meantime I will try and figure out how to take better pictures on the camera I have at the moment.

4. Put more effort into my sixth form work I do already put a  lot of effort into to my work but sometimes I feel that I don't do enough. I just need to research and read more to ensure that I'm doing my best.

Hopefully I will be able to stick to these because they're not exactly hard. What are your new year's resolutions?

This week rather than doing a week in photos post I have decided to do a kind of year-in-photos thing where I show you all the best bits of the year.

Tartan & Velvet

Dress - Ark, Cardigan - Primark (my sister's), tights - tesco, glittery socks - topshop, shoes - doc martens

wondering my pictures are better than normal? I got a tripod finally. However I stupidly deleted the best photo by accident. Anyway onto the outfit, the dress is so amazing and the skirt like flows nicely. This is probably what I'm going to wear for new years eve and will probably be my favourite outfit for a long time.

I apologise for the cyberman on the calender behind me on the first picture. In January it will change to various pictures of the characters of the hobbit.

IT'S CHRISTMAAS! (kind of)

(apologies for the rubbishy webcam picture)
I have been super busy today making sausage rolls, pigs in blankets and cheesecake ready for tomorrow. I probably wont post tomorrow as I will be at my Nan's for most of the day and she doesn't have the internet and it would also be very anti-social of me. Anyway I would like to wish you all a very merry christmas and I hope you get lots of nice presents/eat lots of yummy food!!
Now playing: Frank Sinatra Christmas album!

Beauty Buys

I went a bit mad in Superdrug today buying all the stuff I have 'ummed and ahhed' over for the past few month.
NYC cheek glow in 656 sutton place peach - £2.99 (I think)
I was literally covered in bronzer once I'd finished because I kept testing them on the back on my hands. I eventually found this one which is just right. It's a nice colour, unlike one of the MUA ones that I tried, and it's not too dark (I'm very pale).

Blusher brush - superdrug - £2.99 (I think)
I bought this for the NYC bronzer. I know it's a blusher brush but it was more angled than the bronzing brush. However I have just noticed that the bronzer comes with a brush. Silly me.

Famous brow addict- £2.99 reduced from £7.99
I've been looking for a brow kit for a while but I hate spending loads of money on make up just in case it's rubbish. I found this and it was reduced from £7.99 to £2.99 so I was incredibly happy. However as a result of this there were only 3 left and they had all been opened but I bought it anyway. It looks like someone may have prodded it a bit but not too much. I asked for a benefit brow kit for christmas but I don't know whether I'm getting it so I bought this just in case if I don't.

MUA lipstick in shade 3 - £1
I know it's cheap but I have had lipstick from MUA before and it's actually quite good, especially for £1. If you watched my most recent video you will know that I bought a different lipstick the other week and it didn't suit me so I got another and hopefully this is better.

Sorry for my lack of posting as of recent but I have finished sixth form for Christmas now so I should be able to do some outfit posts - hurrah! My sister i.e. my human tripod is home so I can bribe her into taking some pics.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Last night I went to see the Hobbit and it was absolutely amazing. They only changed little bits but generally they stuck to the book quite well.

For those of you who don't know, it's about Bilbo who gets chosen by Gandalf to be a burglar for 13 Dwarves who are going to reclaim stolen land and gold from Smaug the dragon. On this section of their journey they encounter trolls, orcs, goblins and Gollum. I'm not going to go into immense detail of what happens because that will ruin it for you. What I will say is for all you girls to watch out for Fili and Kili, the two younger dwarves, who are strangely good looking as is Thorin, played by Richard Armitage (Guy of Gisbourne in the Robin Hood TV series ans played harry in the vicar of dibley).

As sad it may seem the best bit about the film was the frequent use of the song 'Concerning Hobbits' which was also used in The Fellowship of the Ring. They played it about 5 times, some of which are the song slowed down or played with different instruments. It's my favourite LOTR song so I was so happy they used it and I like it so much that it's my alarm tone in the morning.
Anyway it was so good and I recommend that you go and see it, especially if you love the Lord of the Rings films.
Has anybody else seen it?

Tis the season of ugly jumpers

When I went charity shopping yesterday I realised that I hadn't bought a big chunky jumper in such a long time so I bought this from Barnado's for £3.99. It's kind of has an ugly-knitting-machine-just-exploded kind of look to it but it's so pretty and fits perfectly. There isn't a label inside it so I don't know where it's originally from, perhaps it's hand knitted- who knows?

TV/Film Favourites #1: Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Recently I have thought that my blog has kind of lost the 'me' element because it only shows the clothes I like and wear rather than other aspects of my personality. In order to change this I thought I would add this new feature to my blog to show you stuff other than clothes, jewellery etc. that I like.
Over the past few years Buffy The Vampire Slayer has become one of my favourite TV programmes ever because I like stuff that's a bit mystical and nothing is better than vampires (especially hot ones)
These are all my Buffy favourites:

  • Favourite season: 4 because it's the funniest out of all the 7 seasons and you see a lot of Spike, played by James Marsters.
  • Favourite Character: This is the hardest one to do because I love them all in their own little ways except for Buffy because she's so annoying. The best looking character is Spike (obviously) but my favourite character based on stuff other than looks is Willow, played by Alyson Hannigan.
  • My favourite episode has to be 'Once More With Feeling' from Season 6 which is a musical episode. The songs are so corny but after you've watched it for the billionth time you have to sing along.

  • The best song from once more with feeling is 'I'll Never Tell' sang by the characters Xander and Anya.

  • The cutest couple are Willow and Tara. They are just all so cutesy, especially in Once More With Feeling.
Tara and Willow
  • And finally the best quote from the whole series has to be: "Randy Giles!? Why didn't you just call me 'Horny Giles' or 'Desperate-for-a-shag Giles'?" as said by Spike in Tabula Rasa, Season 6.
Spike when he thinks he is actually Randy Giles.
I also love the fact that it is so 90's. Everything about it is so cheesey and corny but so brilliant at the same time.

I hope this hasn't been too boring for you!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

I have finally put up my tree! Unfortunately we don't get real trees anymore because they are such a hassle so I miss the amazing smell. I put all of the baubles on our tree this year which, for some reason, I have never done before. We have really cute decorations, especially the bauble in the last picture. I put a tree up in my bedroom too but my cat keeps knocking it over.

Favourite song the moment - Frankie Goes To Hollywood - The Power of Love
